Fourth graders in Akron schools are anticipating their Dog Wood seedling, courtesy of Keep Akron Beautiful, to plant on Arbor Day, April 26, 2013.
I have been showing my Powerpoint presentation in the classrooms of fourth graders in the Akron schools. The Arbor Day educational presentation targets trees in Akron, Summit County and the state of Ohio.
One example of what the students learn is that the Signal Tree in the Akron’s Cascade Valley Park is over 300 years old, and it is shaped like a three-pointed fork. It is one of many trees in the presentation. Here is some more information on the Signal Tree: http://www.ci.akron.oh.us/Tour/SignalTree.htm.
Make sure to ask your fourth grader about the Arbor Day presentation and what they’ve learned!
