2016 Dreamscape Makeover

By the end of the first week of August, KAB finished the 2016 Dreamscape makeover! After purchasing Dreamscape tickets for the past five years, winners Sandy & Andy Tirpak of Cuyahoga Falls were extremely excited to have the opportunity to see their backyard transformed. After meeting with lead landscape designer, Dave Thomas of R.G. Thomas Landscape and Design Inc. they were able to determine what changes they wanted to see in their makeover.

They came up with a plan to change the backyard, including the installation of a new walkway that would be 240 sq ft with 4×8 pavers, removal of existing landscape to make room for new additions, and lights set up along the walkway and trees.

Prior to the makeover kickoff, Advanced Arboriculture removed and pruned a few trees in the existing landscape. With donations from Pam’s Pernennial Plant Farm, Suncrest Gardens, 1Dayton’s Nurseries and Blooming Designs, the KAB Flowerscape Crew was able to begin planting in the backyard.

It didn’t take the butterflies long to notice the new beds!

Dave Thomas and the Tirpaks decided that they would install the path in the backyard so that it would13886259_10157346131325604_2695769206815318078_n[1] connect from the garage to their existing deck. R.G Thomas Landscape then began the preparations needed for the walk way by removing the sod, existing concrete in the front of the garage, unwanted shrubs, and digging out the hosta from the front yard. Naragon Irrigation Company came in to move exisiting irrigation heads in order to accommodate the new beds being planted. 13906689_10157346132925604_803968605005168846_n[1]

R.G Thomas Landscaping also framed the pathway in preparation for Nick’s Landscaping of Ohio, LLC to dig out the walkway.

On Tuesday it was Graf Growers Garden Center and 6Landscaping Design turn to come  in and install the base and lay the walkway. They also donated two potted plants to accommodate the sun and shade.

Then the final touches were made thanks to first time vendor partner, Lewis Landscaping  who cut in and sanded the walkway.

Once the walkway was completed the final touches for the backyard makeover were underway! KAB Flowerscape crew began working alongside Paul’s Greenhouse to till and plant in the new beds and Tim’s Custom Electric installed a 8series of lights that went along the pathway and the surrounding trees thanks to the lights donated by Cascade Lighting, Inc.

On the last day of the Dreamscape Makeover, Terrascape Ltd. came in to blow mulch (donated by K.B. Bioenergy, Inc) around the pathway. R.G. Thomas Landscape and Design, Inc. then began cleaning up the site and installing a beautiful birdbath donated by Donzells Flower and Garden Center .
