Volunteer opportunities exist year-round at Keep Akron Beautiful. We are always looking for people who would like to help the community by picking up litter on public land in Akron. Such opportunities are available any day of the year.
Know of a city park that needs some attention?
How about an area that is heavily littered whenever you see it?
Or, would you just like to clean up areas of your neighborhood?
Whatever the situation, you can choose your own location and set your own schedule! Plus, Keep Akron Beautiful will provide you with free supplies for your hard work. If you take pride in Akron and would like to transform your community, please contact us today by e-mail or telephone at (330) 375-2116. Volunteer opportunities are great for individuals as well as groups. Remember, volunteer opportunities at Keep Akron Beautiful are for cleaning public land only!
Community Pride!
Two groups displaying strong community pride are the East High School and Buchtel High School football teams. These two groups volunteered to pick up litter at Reservoir and Joy city parks. This event was coordinated by John Hafford of Akron Parks and Recreation and held during the week of June 16, when the football teams demonstrated Akron spirit by cleaning up favorite local hangouts. The experience proved to be good for everyone--now park goers can enjoy recreational areas in cleanliness and residents can feel good about where they live. Plus, team members get school credit for doing community service--a requirement of Akron Public Schools for graduation!

Beautification Program
The beautification programs of Keep Akron Beautiful (KAB) represent true value. In 26 years, this nonprofit agency has developed and sustained one of the best urban landscaping programs in the national Keep America Beautiful system.
How to become a Beautification Board Member
If you are interested in becoming a year-round volunteer for the agency, we have a volunteer corps, of men and women, who work on implementing the programs of the agency. Come to one of our 4 luncheon meetings and meet our beautiful people! As an active Beautification Board Member, your basic commitment to KAB is to:
*Attend our luncheon business meetings where we present speakers that make us more knowledgeable on gardening, waste minimization, and environment stewardship of our community’s resources. Once a year, Keep Akron Beautiful offers a free educational bus tour to a point of interest in Northeast Ohio.
*Volunteer to canvas one Beautification Watch Award route within Akron city limits.
*Pay $25 in annual dues to support the Flowerscape campaign.
Join us on the Beautification Board of Keep Akron Beautiful.
