Community Pride!
Two groups displaying strong community pride are the East High School and Buchtel High School football teams. These two groups volunteered to pick up litter at Reservoir and Joy city parks. This event was coordinated by John Hafford of Akron Parks and Recreation and held during the week of June 16, when the football teams demonstrated Akron spirit by cleaning up favorite local hangouts. The experience proved to be good for everyone--now park goers can enjoy recreational areas in cleanliness and residents can feel good about where they live. Plus, team members get school credit for doing community service--a requirement of Akron Public Schools for graduation!
"It's a team effort!" The East High School football team huddles together before cleaning up Reservoir Park. KAB President, Paula Davis, tells the Buchtel High School football team how they can make a difference in their community.
