Keep America Beautiful Board of Directors
--Local leader to represent national network of affiliated organizations on national board--
STAMFORD, Conn. (Dec. 18, 2007)
— Keep America Beautiful, Inc. (KAB) announced the appointment of Paula Davis, executive director of Keep Akron (Ohio) Beautiful, to represent the interests of KAB’s network of nearly 580 community-based and statewide affiliate programs to KAB’s national Board of Directors.
“In order to maintain Keep America Beautiful’s role as the nation’s preeminent educator and driving force for community and environmental improvement, it is critical that our affiliate leaders around the country have a direct hand in setting our future course,” said G. Raymond Empson, President of Keep America Beautiful, Inc. “Paula Davis leads a dynamic and highly successful KAB affiliate organization, and her experience will help KAB to develop and implement new tools to combat litter and waste, and to add new communities to KAB’s network.”
Ms. Davis was nominated by the KAB national office, and was elected by a peer vote of Keep America Beautiful affiliate executive directors nationwide.
“Keep America Beautiful is a dynamic network of grassroots organizations sharing the vision of cleaner, greener, more vital communities nationwide, said Davis. “By serving on KAB’s national board of directors, I hope to provide valuable insight to the needs and issues facing communities of all sizes, while at the same time enhancing my local mission with Keep Akron Beautiful.”
Additionally, Ms. Davis was recently tapped by the city of Akron and Mayor Don Plusquellic to guide the city’s “Greenprint for Akron” by acting as a community clearinghouse for information on how Akron can become more "green" to save energy, to limit waste and to make new buildings "smarter."
