We have a Dreamscape winner for 2008! One thousand two hundred and fifty-seven (1,257) owners of Summit County businesses or residences entered to win a professionally designed front or back yard makeover valued at $10,000. Keep Akron Beautiful developed this raffle fundraiser four years ago to support its public land beautification program, Flowerscape. Raffle tickets were $25 each or five for $100. Tickets were sold at our ten Vendor Partner retail locations: Canton Road Garden Center Copley Tool Rental, Dayton Nurseries, Inc., Donzell’s Flower and Garden Center, Graf Growers Garden Center Hoffman’s Garden Center, KB Compost Services, Inc., Suncrest Gardens, The Henry Bierce Company and Paul’s Greenhouse.
The winning ticket was drawn on Thursday, June 5, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Alexander Park on West Market Street. The winners of the grand prize are Janice and Eric Lindstrom of Hudson who will have until the end of June to meet with the designer James Arch of Vizmeg Landscape, Inc. to create a design for the landscape transformation blitz the first week of August. Here are the other ticket holders who won the following runner-up prizes donated by Dreamscape’s generous Vendor Partners:
1st Runner-up: Mary Collins of Akron, won a custom, master landscape plan done by Frances Weng of Garden Designs. Mr. Weng is well-known nationally for his water features.
2nd Runner-up: Karen and Bob Capron of Akron, will have a $200 value of their choice of colored mulch blown into their landscaped beds by TerraScape Ltd., owned by Mike Clar.
3rd Runner-up: Nancy Heslop of Akron, won $150 worth of tree maintenance or stump grinding done by Greg Walent of Walent Tree Service.
The winning doesn’t stop there! Tickets were drawn for a $100 gift certificate to Canton Road Garden Center in Akron and won by Jon Weingart of Akron. Tickets were drawn for a $100 gift basket of gardening supplies from Graf Growers and was won by Walter Keith, also of Akron. Two hanging baskets from Graf Growers were awarded to the top ticket sellers Don Mittiga, of the KAB Board of Directors, and Eric Jones, of the KAB Beautification Board.
The Dreamscape Raffle 2008 also has the following Vendor Partners, not mentioned above, offering goods and services for the August 2008 landscape makeover:

All proceeds from the ticket sales will be used to fund the Keep Akron Beautiful Flowerscape program which plants and maintains 40 Flowerscape sites annually.
