Dreamscape Raffle



13th Dreamscape Makeover Complete! 

The Dreamscape Makeover Raffle is Keep Akron Beautiful's annual fundraiser that was developed 12 years ago to help support our public land beautification program, Flowerscape. The Dreamscape Makeover is a raffle where one lucky winner will receive a professionally designed front or back yard makeover, valued at $10,000.

On Thursday June 2nd, Keep Akron Beautiful selected its winner of the 13th annual Dreamscape Raffle, sponsored by SummaCare at Alexander Park. Grand Prize winner Sandy Tirpak of Cuyahoga Falls was selected to receive a $10,000 front or backyard makeover, designed by the 2016 lead landscape designer and project manager, Dave Thomas, of R.G. Thomas Landscape and Design, Inc.. Sandy Tirpak purchased her Dreamscape Raffle ticket from Graf Growers! Tirpak met with Thomas to create a landscaping plan, which was put into action during the transformation week of August 1-5, 2016.  The results are pictured above!

 

In addition to the coveted grand prize, Keep Akron Beautiful Board Member, James Kraus also drew  three runner’s up winners who received prizes from our Dreamscape Vendor Partners: 

1st Runner-up: Wendy Weaver of Tallmadge will have their choice of mulch or compost blown into landscaped beds by TerraScape LTD., owned by Mike Clar.         

2nd Runner-up:  John Miller of Uniontown will receive a bird bath donated by Suncrest Gardens.

3rd Runner-up: Kristen Kemp of Fairlawn will receive a $100 gift basket of gardening supplies donated by Graf Growers.

 

1,265 tickets were sold to Summit County residents through the spring helping to raise a total of $27,350 for the program.  All funds raised go towards planting and maintaining the KAB Flowerscape sites each year.

2015 Dreamscape Makeover Recap 

The winning ticket was drawn on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Alexander Park on West Market Street. This year's first place winners met with  landscape designers and project managers, Russ Hench and Dan Van Voorhis, of Suncrest Gardens to create their plan for the landscape transformation the week of August 3-7, 2015.  

 

In addition to the coveted grand prize, three runner’s up winners were selected to receive prizes from our Dreamscape Vendor Partners:

1st Runner-up: Mark and Lynn Podnar of Clinton will have their choice of mulch or compost blown into landscaped beds by TerraScape LTD., owned by Mike Clar.

2nd Runner-up: Elizabeth England of Akron will receive a $100 gift basket of gardening supplies donated by Graf Growers.
3rd Runner-up: Marsha Paul of Cuyahoga Falls will receive a bird bath donated by Suncrest Gardens.

 

Every dollar raised from this fundraiser goes to help fund and support the cost of flowers, materials, and Flowerscape crew that make these 39 Flowerscape sites so radiant and beautiful. The annual budget for the Flowerscape program is around $150,000!

 

Our first Dreamscape raffle was in 2004 and we raised over $20,000 for the Flowerscape program. In 2015 Keep Akron Beautiful sold 1,437 tickets and raised $28,985 that will help support the Flowerscape program.

In 2014, Keep Akron Beautiful and the Flowerscape crew planted 40,698 flowers with a total cost of over $20,800. Since the start of the program in 1982, over 1 million flowers have been planted to beautify the City of Akron!

We have  22 local Vendor Partners who volunteer their time, crew labor and resources to help make our Dreamscape Raffle a success.
