  • CUAW Akron Zoo Picnic

    Volunteers ended Clean Up Akron Week by celebrating their hard work at a specialVolunteer Appreciation Picnic at the Akron Zoo on Saturday, May 3. Live entertainment provided by the Tonweya Indian Dancers of Boy Scout Troop 74 kicked off the picnic and awards ceremony. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to all volunteers and group pictures were taken by City of Akron photographer, Bruce Ford. City councilman Kenneth Jones and Keep Akron Beautiful board members David Gowans, Frank LaRose and Vincent Lobello offered congratulatory words to parrticpating volunteers and Service Director, Rick Merolla, represented Mayor Plusquellic in presenting a Proclamation to Paula Davis, President of Keep Akron Beautiful. Mascots Cool Rider of Akron Metro RTA, Buck from Acme Fresh Markets, Orbit from the Akron Aeros, Ducky Downs from the Soap Box Derby and Marlowe the Clown all provided entertainment for volunteers as well.
