My name is Jamie, and I grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, right down the street from the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Having such a beautiful environment to call home instilled in me a sense of pride for Cuyahoga Falls and Akron, making me fall in love with this area so much that I hope to live here for the rest of my life.
I am currently a junior at The University of Akron. My major is Business and Organizational Communications with a focus in Public Relations, and also a minor in Sports Media. I’m a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority at the University, and also a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America. Previous to attending The University of Akron, I started my college education at Otterbein University in Columbus, with a major in Zoology. Once I realized that this was not the path for me, I moved home to Cuyahoga Falls and transferred to U of A. I struggled to find a major that would keep me interested, while also leading me to a job that I would enjoy in the future. Eventually I found that Communications and PR were a perfect fit. I wanted to continue using my passion for the environment and my love for this area along with my college education, and after hearing a little bit about this organization while volunteering at the Akron Zoo, I found that interning at Keep Akron Beautiful was the perfect combination.
I’m very excited to begin working with such a wonderful organization that holds the same values and mission to help the environment while also keeping the community ecofriendly and beautiful!
