Beautification Watch Awards

Beautification Watch Awards

If you were one of 3500 Akronites who were nominated for a beautification award in 2011, congratulations! The Beautification Watch Award program has been an agency program for 30 years. To be nominated for a Beautification Watch Award, property is judged on the following criteria:

 Litter-free

Well-maintained with flowers, shrubs and/or trees

Free of weeds

Stand out from its surroundings.

Below are just a few of the comments we have received from past winners:

Kathy: I came home last week from spending an awful day at the hospital with my husband who had surgery for colon cancer…I was very surprised and pleased when I opened my mail and found I had been given an award. I just want you to know that made my day!

Lillian & Roger: Although we receive many compliments from our neighbors we are delighted to be recognized by the city’s Keep Akron Beautiful.

John & Carol: It is good that KAB encourages others to beautify their properties. Akron looked good this past summer.

Marjorie:Since I live in a Section 8 home, I take great pride inside and outside.

Phillip: The award made me feel really good inside

Cathy: This means a lot to me for others to see what I love to do....and yes, I do feel that I make an imopact on others- mainly the children.

The Beautification Watch Award is a program that Keep Akron Beautiful has had for 30 years. Volunteers, members of the Board of Directors, staff and local civic organizations take their time to canvas the city during the month of July by driving through assigned neighborhoods. They nominate addresses they thought met the above criteria. Nominations can also be made by calling our office at 330- 375-2116 starting in July 2012!

Thanks for keeping Akron beautiful....it's up to all of us
